This is a reprinting of the rare 1951 work "A Message from Croat Moslems to their Religious Brethren in the World" by Dr. Dzafer Kulenovich. It was translated by an unnamed individual from the Serbian-Croatian language into English. The language spoken in former Yugoslavia is called Croatian in the text. The Bosnian dialect is now recognized as a separate language and part of the path to that recognition was Bosnian Muslims finding their political; social; and religious identity through the turbulent times of war; occupation; and Communist pressure against Islam.

I was working; and the dogs went crazy when the UPS guy came. I had no intention of doing anything other than skim it and get back to work...and then I finished it in one reading. This book will be compelling for anyone who has ever been involved or interested in public safety (police; fire; EMS); helicopter rescue; or emergency medicine. Plus it's just fun when McDonald tells yarns about the rescues he's pulled off; as well as the goofs he committed over the years. Been there/done that is pretty cliche; but this guy actually was and did. Well done.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. From Outside the Deadman's CurveBy Jan Stockton...I have just experienced a helluva ride! Frequently as I sit in my recliner reading; I hear the chop; chop; chop long before he comes into view. I look up Sandia Peak; thinking thatsomeone lost their footing at almost 10;000 feet; or that they slipped on the loose granite; or grabbed a short; brittle limb from a pinon pine as they careened down the side of the slope. Whatever... it just ruined a beautiful day of hiking! And now I will never look skyward again in the same way as I have done in my 26 + years from this vantage point. Now I realize rescue teams deliberately fly a beautiful craft onto the side of the mountain or hover over a deep crevasse as a rescuer slides down to someone dead or alive. These "war stories" read like a novel; keeping the reader on the edge of his seat until each mission is completed. The harrowing escapades are thrilling; excitement filled; and depict the dedication; compassion; and occasional frivolty of the flight crews as they perform heroic deeds. To them; it is just their job...but what an exhilarating job on the worst day! This book tells the stories of the teamwork required to complete a successful mission. It characterizes each crew member through the colorful aviator lingo and conversations; the stress relief antics of their BFFs; and the seriousness of each role they individually play as a flight crew. Individual escapades plot the skills and daring required of each crew member so that they may live to fly anither day. This is a fast paced book that encourages the reader to fly by the seat of their pants from beginning to end; whether you are an experienced aviator or merely an armchair pilot!I especially enjoyed Helicopter Training 101 in the beginning. This information was invaluable so the reader could fly along without crashing!3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. An Exciting RideBy B. SpencerKevin McDonald is a special friend. He and my son are both University of Texas graduates; were naval aviators at the same time; and both flew for STAR Flight for a number of years. This book had special appeal for me as I know so many of the people and circumstances about which Kevin wrote. It's a very dangerous occupation; but it has its rewards in the saving of many lives. The author's writing style is excellent. He takes the reader along on many missions almost as a member of the flight crew.
