Lincolnites and Rebels: A Divided Town in the American Civil War

ePub Lincolnites and Rebels: A Divided Town in the American Civil War by Robert Tracy McKenzie in History

Description

This volume examines a key stage in the development of Hindu nationalism as a political ideology. It focuses on various movements during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century which sought to mobilize Hindus by advocating specific ideas of what it meant to be Hindu. It situates the ideology in the broad context of colonial rule; particularly with respect to the roots of Indian nationalism and the impact of colonialism on religion and caste. Much of the current literature on Hindu nationalism begins with the 1920s; and this book provides essential background material.

A must have for any resident of Knoxville region.By CustomerA must have for any resident of Knoxville region.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Citizens of Knoxville; TN surviving the Civil WarBy Gerald HedmanActual history that has all the makings of a pot-boiler novel. Knoxville and its citizens went through the Civil War mostly under the occupation of the Southern Army; then the final year occupied by the north; with great personal devastation and communal unrest.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
