Lost Civilizations: 10 Societies that Vanished Without a Trace

ePub Lost Civilizations: 10 Societies that Vanished Without a Trace by Michael Rank in History

Description

The Not Forgotten War chronicles the experiences of Private Nicholas Dick; who served in a machine gun crew during the last few months of the Korean conflict. Those last months were among the bloodiest; as both sides fought to claim as much territory as possible prior to reaching a cease-fire agreement. For years after his discharge; Nick was never able to talk about his horrific experiences and never mentioned the frequent nightmares he suffered. After a job injury forced him to take early retirement; he suddenly found himself becoming a victim of post-traumatic stress syndrome. Here is one GI’s story of war and its aftermath.

As it is; the chapters are short; breezy and about like Reader's Digest summaries. Not for the truly curious. Apart from Atlantis; "without a trace" is an exaggeration; of course; otherwise even these summaries would have no bases.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Very Interesting View Into Vanished SocietiesBy Michael WaltonI found a lot of information in this book to be the untold story of lost civilizations that I have only known to be story's or myths. I enjoyed this look into historical facts and accounts into the rise and fall of many civilizations that I did or did not know existed or only know what knowledge exists of these lost civilizations. if your still history buff or just want to know more about several civilizations like Roanoke or Atlantis then I would highly recommend this book to you.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Too shallow; but interestingBy Andrea Maria dertaVery well written; but too shallow in my opinion. I am not sure if that is due to the fact that data is very scant; but I would have liked it to have a little bit more meat on it. It is nice to get a glimpse of every civilization that he is discussing; but if you are interested in more facts you should look into buying a different book.
