Lost Plantations of the South

ePub Lost Plantations of the South by Marc R. Matrana in History

Description

Spanning thirty years of intensive research; this book proves what many scholars could not explain: that today’s Western world must be considered the product of both Greek and Indian thought—Western and Eastern philosophies.Thomas McEvilley explores how trade; imperialism; and migration currents allowed cultural philosophies to intermingle freely throughout India; Egypt; Greece; and the ancient Near East. This groundbreaking reference will stir relentless debate among philosophers; art historians; and students.

Great reference for dreamers of the southern antebellum days.By ArtWorks48A well researched and written reference for anyone interested in the story of not only the plantation homes; but also those who built and resided in them.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Lost Plantations a RevelationBy Lynn LemingsI enjoyed the more detailed histories of some of the plantations. Wasn't just a bookof photographs. But on the other hand it could use a few more photos. I've beento the New Orleans area many times but did not know a lot of the history that thisbook included. All in all I love it.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Lost Plantations of the SouthBy Mrs. Anna L. FulksThis is a wonderful historical book about lost treasures of the South with not only pictures/drawings but the stories about the families behind each of these Plantations. . .this is a book that will be enjoyed and re-read several times. My only regret is that I wish some of the pictures had been in color but one could certainly use their imagination.
