Description

This is a book dealing with the starkest features of the unforgiving landscape of tactical combat: casualties death; adaptation; survival. It was always difficult to get him to relive any of this story but I could see the burn scars on his legs . This great book let me look in on hid lfe at sea and in battle. He was an "Electrician's Mate"; he joked with told me that he fought the war by running the movie projector. Those burns told another story as he was one of those who boarded the "USS Franklin" to help fight the many fires. The book does justice to the selfless ;brave men who gave all they had for our country and their fellow sailors. The story of two great ships and the crews who never gave up.God bless them all. Ships and men of steel and the memories of love and courage of which that this book tells the story.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. USS Sante Fe critical time to help.By Bonnie BalloI read this book then bought another one for my cousin to read. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you want a good true read from just one of the great rescues during World War II; I suggest this book. It is written well and gives you a feeling of being there.
