This book is not as informative as her other historical works. I think because there is not a lot of information to be found concerning Mary Boleyn. That being said; it is interesting in other aspects ofthe era. I would recommend it to supplement what is known of the Tudor era.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Merry Mary BoleynBy Jill GrunHaving read all of Alison Weir's other books on the Tudors (both her fiction and nonfiction works); I was very much looking forward to reading this newest one. While it is true that much of the book and Mary's history is speculation and Weir's attempts to debunk popular myths that surround her; I still found it a worthwhile read and throughly enjoyed it.That being said; those who are looking for a book just on Mary Boleyn will be disappointed; as a good percentage of this book is about Tudor life and Henry VIII's court. But for Tudor fans looking for a book that gives a good overall picture of Tudor England with Mary Boleyn as your "guide" of sorts; then I would definitely recommend this. It's not very long and while other reviews have mentioned it being slightly dry reading; I didn't get that at all and found myself quite absorbed. The arguments that Weir presents are well documented and I appreciate the obvious effort she went to to try and get to the truth; as much as she was able given the lack of reliable sources. It is true that Mary's relationship with her more (in)famous sister is not touched on that much; but at its core; the book is a wonderful; well-written; thoughtful examination of the way the Boleyn sisters choices led them down very similiar; yet very different; paths.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Challanging to finishBy CustomerLove Alison Weir; but I found this book difficult to read. did finish b/c I really love this time period; and wanted to get a more balanced viewpoint than what was portrayed on TV.
