Matriarchs of the Messiah: Valiant Women in the Lineage of Jesus Christ

audiobook Matriarchs of the Messiah: Valiant Women in the Lineage of Jesus Christ by Jo Ann Skousen in History

Description

Montgomery's cultural heritage reflects two of America's most transformative struggles: the Civil War and the civil rights movement. On February 18; 1861; Jefferson Davis was inaugurated as president of the Confederate States of America on the Alabama Capitol steps. Those same steps marked the final destination of the Selma-Montgomery voting rights march on March 25; 1965. The telegram to fire on Fort Sumter originated from the Winter Building on Court Square on April 11; 1861. Just down the street; and a century later; Mrs. Rosa L. Parks refused to give up her seat; sparking the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Discover these compelling stories and more surrounding the historical landmarks along Montgomery's Civil Heritage Trail.

OoleyJo Ann Skousen has found a unique niche in effectively expounding on the lives and contributions of the women in the lineage of Jesus Christ. When much is revealed from Scripture; she makes their stories compelling and interesting. When little is revealed; she has a talent for credibly “filling in the gaps” by using a multitude of historical sources and old-fashioned intuitive insight. Having raised children of her own; Jo Ann also has a perspective of seeing things through the eyes of a Mom and applying that wisdom to the challenges these women might have faced. Hard to believe this is her first book- she hit it out of the park!3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great book! A wonderful addition to my library.By Kathe GreenThis book was very well researched; using the Bible as the basis; while adding quotes and supporting materials from other sources. The bible verses were quoted or referenced; so I could review the original and enjoy the insights and new information that the author provided. This book really expanded my understanding of the role of women in the Bible. It was easy to read and I will read it again. A pleasure to own.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. MUST READBy EmmaThis book gave me a profound boost to my self-esteem. I only wish I had fully understood the complete meaning of ezer kenegdo when I was younger and raising my family. It was wonderful to learn more fully about these magnificent women of the bible. I not only loved it but read it thoroughly twice.
