Roberts not only lays out the path for career and corporate success; but the basic principles of personal character for success in life. He pulls no punches and spells it out with constructive honesty that applies to improving the lives of all -- and from any cultural and/or racial background and experience. We are buying copies for all of our Team Bassett members and doing a special study session to draw out the life implications from this book. And this is pure Roy Roberts: constructive; honest; solution focused but no BS and no excuses. My copy is highlighted and on my desk for ready reference. This is a great read that is fun as well as insightful; instructive and enlightening; This is one of the best professional development and persona growth books I have read in my long business; professional and graduate school teaching career.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I recommend this book for ANYONE who ...By Ronny D.I had the privilege to meet Roy and his lovely wife and he's the real deal. After reading about his story; three words come to mind: Impressive; improbable; and inspirational.Unlike some corporate executives who try to lie and cheat their way to the top; Roy is a testament - living proof - that honesty; hard work; education; and helping others is the right road to success. Although Roy has achieved incredible feats during his storied career - even becoming GM's "$100 Billion Man;" he still hasn't forgotten about his humble roots. For a man of such elevated business stature; his down-to-Earth demeanor is exemplary and endearing. It's difficult to summarize a person's life and accomplishments in just 312 pages; but "My Success Story:Always the First; Never the Last" does a fine job. I recommend this book for ANYONE who works in the business world and wants to learn from a true gentleman and legend.
