This book is a great read from one of "The Few".0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. There are many great autobiographer pilots from World War IIBy James H.There are many great autobiographer pilots from World War II: Adolf Galland; Saburo Sakai; and Ted Lawson; to name but a few. But few have approached the honesty and frank introspection of Al Deere; and none of them had as many close scrapes as he. Deere writes with the same focus that certainly saved his own life numerous times; and by leaving us with such a fine work; we can count ourselves nearly as lucky as he.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. what a lucky guyBy Kevin BullerGreat book!! I knew something of Alan Deere prior to getting the book because reading about the battle of Britain is probably one of my more favorite parts of history. Knowing more about Deere's exploits is a big wow. For someone to have survived as many close calls as he did; he should have bought a lottery ticket somewhere along the way.
