Family history in Picketts Division..By A CustomerHave you been researching your GGGrandfather; uncle; cousin; determained that they were in General Picketts Division; and have wondered if they were in the charge; and what may have happened to them? Wanted to find out as much information about General Picketts Division at Gettysburg as possible?..I wondered; bought the book and found my GGrandfathers name on the company roster as being present; he was not on the list of unengaged personnel; so as much as historical research can determain he participated..There are 602 pages in this book;the first 173 tells about the actual charge and the events leading up to it. The remaining pages list every man by name in each company of every Regiment present. There are also lists of those killed; wounded;known burial locations;disinterments from the battlefield;unengaged personnel;and much more..If you are looking for a book about the men in Picketts Division at Gettysburg;written by the historian at Gettysburg; I have not came accross another that comes close .....9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. The rosters are gone!By A CustomerThe original edition of this book contained both a fine narrative of the operations of Pickett's Division at Gettysburg; and a detailed roster containing the most complete listing obtainable of the soldiers involved in the division's actions on 3 July 1863 ("Pickett's Charge"). Thomas Publications' reprint of this book; which is now the only version offered for sale; has deleted John W. Busey's roster portion entirely! While the narrative by Kathy Georg Harrison is first rate; those of you interested in the details of the division's organization at the battle will be most disappointed in this latest edition. The original 600+ page book is now only 168 pages long and contains only the narrative! If you are interested in the division's roster information; do not buy this most recent version! The roster is simply not there any longer!
