Expansive Comprehensive for academics and practitioners alike!By Fasola OguntundeWhat delighted me about this book is not only the fuel for my lust of Yoruba history; but his insightful theories on the development of Ifa as the cultural resource it is. The book comes to you as a thick tome; but is an easy read and I finished it in 3 days!. The first part of the book is a primer on Yoruba religion from a former non-practitioner and develops the structure of the religion while giving a meta-view of Yoruba history. This part ends with the role and function of Ifá and Babalawo in the society. The next part breaks down the structure of an Ifá festival with full written orÃkì; ìwúre and ebo. For the practitioner this part is valuable as well for the chants that can be incorporated as part of your own practice.
