Our Army Nurses: Stories from Women in the Civil WarBy Kathleen PickrellThe book is a well-written account of women who served as nurses for the Northern army; the accounts were published in 1895. A later edition added accounts of Catholic nuns. These are first-person stories. Some contained more detail than others. Some nurses volunteered for shorter periods. The book provides a variety of stories about what these women did and how they served their country. I purchased this book because I wanted to know how nurses nursed during this period. I learned a great deal about nurses; but I finished with many more questions. This book did not provide all of the answers but it was interesting to read.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
