Morris M. Penny and J. Gary Laine have produced a compelling story of Law's Alabama Brigade's attempt to wrest the Round Tops from Federal hands. In July 1863; Evander McIver Law; age 26; was one of Robert E. Lee's most promising generals. His brigade of Alabamians shared the Army of Northern Virginia's sense of invincibility. After a grueling 25-mile march to the battlefield; Law's men made a valiant three-hour effort to gain control of the high ground on the Federal right. Struggle for the Round Tops describes the vicious fighting around Devil's Den; in the Devil's Kitchen; and the heartbreaking repulse from Little Round Top. Law's Alabamians participated in the defense of the Confederate right on July 3 and delighted in unhorsing a number of Federal troopers in Farnsworth's charge. Two days after it arrived; the brigade retired from the field with the realization that the Federals had matched their own fighting ability. Law himself departed with the seeds of discord planted that would ultimately culminate in a devastating feud between himself and Longstreet. Much has been written about the conduct of the Confederate commanders on July 2. Some historians have suggested that Law deliberately disobeyed an order to launch his assault up the Emmitsburg Road. The authors examine the implications of Lee's orders and offer new insight into Hood'snd Law's perspective of the situation and the leeway Hood assumed as a division commander.

We need to break out of the blinders that have been forced upon us to understand our own ancient history. Steven and Evan once again help us to do just that with help and approval of the original people of Australia. With their legacy of the oldest continuing culture on the planet it would be foolish; perhaps arrogant; not to listen to the elders' wisdom. Many thanks to all who were a part of this research to be bold enough to challenge the status quo to offer it up to the public. Look for ward to what comes next.7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Truth Rises when Paradigms Fall - this book is a sledgehammer for Out of Africa TheoryBy Bruce FentonFirstly let me say that I purchased and read an earlier version of this book; as such there may be very slight differences due to updates and improvements carried out; so perhaps now it would be a six-star book! There is no other book out there on this subject; that is the first thing that must be said. If you are looking to understand what is wrong with the Out of Africa Theory on human origins this is THE book that you have been looking for. Steve and Evan have spent many years researching the mythology and history of the [Ab]Original Australian peoples; also communicating directly to elders. This work has brought truly paradigm changing results; their earlier books (with University Press of America) revealed the deep links between Aboriginal Dreaming Lore and almost all spiritual systems that have followed; certainly; these ancient teaching have been shown as foundational to early Christian thought. This is a subject revisited in Out of Australia; but there is much more on offer with this book beyond even this fantastic set of connections. The authors have managed to fit in a great many subjects of huge intrigue; perhaps most notable is the inconsistencies in Out of Africa theory; such as the strangely divergent African and Australian DNA lineages and early dating of Aboriginals vs the dating of the first supposed migration. The book takes us through a wealth of anomalous archaeological sites; skulls that exhibit bizarre morphological features; intriguing Dreaming myths that have shown correlations to recent discoveries; advanced medical science in the palaeolithic period; a long list of firsts for humanity accepted to be Australian; a number of peculiar human forms that walked the ancient Sahul continent and so much more.As a life-long researcher of ancient mysteries; with experience leading research expeditions into the jungle (featured in the UK's Telegraph newspaper) and up into the Georgian Caucasus (Discovery Channel's The Unexplained files); I can tell you with great certainty that you will not find a more exciting adventure than this book; and you can participate in this revelationary quest right from the comfort of your own armchair!
