DonovinFinally a book that is factual does an excellent job describing what we went thru as the war was coming to an end.We felt it.I was there as a mortarman with Baker-1-1.From the 0utposts of Reno;Carson;Vegas;Hedy etal..To the incoming that seemedto never end..To the bunker life;RR in Seoul.Should have written more about the rats that lived in our bunkers;.never men-tioned shooting them with a carbine on auto.We did that most nites In lieu of candles we burned large cans of margerine thatlet off a greasy smoke with tiny black "stuff"that got on your sleeping bageverything else.Spent Christmas of 52 doing security duty for a group of radiomen on some forsaken hill.We ran shotgun for the wiremen whospliced the soundpower lines;took the "Yobos"(KSC workers)out to the OPs;did water humping.Food-on the MLR; it was Crats. But we did get a hotmeal at times.Sometimes too beat to hump down to the mess tent.Oneweek straight it was only a breakfast no matter when you went down.If you want an excellent read about our war this is it...I lost some great buddies on those hills at the Reservoir.Semper Fi toall my brothers past;presentto come.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I was there so I would know.By Dave James (Dave McCoyThe description of the MLR and outpost as well as the surround territory is right on. It brought back many of the memories that could not be recalled without my mind being stimulated. In the past I have tried to remember the day to day activities but they were a blur. The book helped me remember one night when I could see and hear thousands of Chinese and North Koreans streaming down from Arrowhead heading for Elko and Vegas..I was a corpsman with C-!-7 and we were entrenched on the high ground which was the MLR . This book and Lee Ballengers books are great reading.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. "The Forgotten War"By Karen L. BalskeThis book supplied some missing info from my late Marine husband's service record. In addition; I have become fascinated with the Korean War!
