Over The Edge: Death in Grand Canyon; Newly Expanded 10th Anniversary Edition

DOC Over The Edge: Death in Grand Canyon; Newly Expanded 10th Anniversary Edition by Michael P. Ghiglieri; Thomas M. Myers in History

Description

The hope for this book is to show the narrative of the day when the South was invaded by those who desired to inflict their ideals; morals and attitudes; just because "these Southerners" needed to be brought back under the Northerner's way of life; their philosophy of life and their interpretation of the law. But above all; it was because the Northerners way of life was jolted economically when the Southern states seceded from the Union. Hopefully; as you read these quotes and narratives; of which most come from primary sources; that it will bring us closer to the facts of history and erase the opinions; of the new order of modern historians; where facts are deemed as secondary. History can easily become a lie when interpreted by the opinions of men and then; what do you get? Certainly you get no facts. George Santayana hit the bulls eye when he said; "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

Grand Canyon Vacation for 40th Wedding Anniversary!By Paula BartonExcited to read this book that immediately I am finding so interesting I cannot put it down! I want to be well informed of all the dangers and tips to follow while vacationing at this amazing one of the 7 natural wonders in the world! Love my husband for making all the reservations for our trip there to have a romantic 40th Anniversary vacation! We vacationed there for our 30th anniversary to Grand Canyon National Park and stayed at the South Rim. This trip we will stay at the North Rim. Thanks for having this book available to download to my Kindle as well as my iPhone! Especially since this book is a huge 564 pages! Who wants to lug around that large of a book?0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Well written; interesting and informative.By Jesse D.Was planning to hike the GC but had to cancel. Purchased this book to get an idea of the possible risks asociated with such a hike and I think this book provided exactly the info I wanted. It's not a survival guide so if that is what you need this isn't the book. It is mostly the accounts of how people have perished in the GC since it became open to the public around the early 1900s.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. The first 2 chapters are easy reading and filled with crazy accidentsBy CustomerThe first 2 chapters are easy reading and filled with crazy accidents. The water and air plane chapters are a little harder reading. The whole book is filled with great information for anyone visiting the Grand Canyon or especially if hiking in it.
