Peoples and Cultures of Asia

PDF Peoples and Cultures of Asia by Raymond Scupin Ph.D. in History

Description

Art History presents a broad view of art from prehistory through the Gothic Age; it sympathetically and positively introduces the works of all artists. This includes women; artists of color; and the arts of other continents and regions; as well as those of Western Europe and the United States. Broad in scope and depth; this beautifully illustrated work features art from the following time periods and places: prehistory; art of the ancients (Near East; Egypt; the Aegean; Greece; Etruscan; and Roman); early Christian; Jewish; and Byzantine art; Islamic art; early Medieval European art; Romanesque art; and Gothic art.Marilyn Stokstad has been introducing the history of art to students and to the public for more than forty years; nurturing an educated; enthusiastic audience for the arts. She firmly believes that everyone can and should enjoy their introduction to art history. Only then will they learn to appreciate art as the most tangible creation of the human imagination.

OsborneI bought this textbook for my Cultures of Asia class in college and I thought this book was pretty good; it had a different set of authors for each chapter but it was definitely a hard read. It wasn't hard to understand and there was a lot of information; a good learning experience but the book itself makes you tired. The chapters were too long and they had too much information in each chapter. The book is set up so that each chapter is a different Asian country; but there is just so much information that it was hard to stay motivated to read the entire chapter! I still got an A in the class; I did enjoy the class but this book; if you don't need it for a class it's probably not a good buy.The textbook arrived quickly and in perfect condition and I would definitely use the seller again.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Satisfied CustomerBy NefertitiThe product arrived promptly and the description of the product was accurate.I needed a particular book for school; and the price of a brand new book was a bit too expensive for me.I did not need a new book- just something to survive the spring semester. I was very pleased with the price of the used item that I ordered. The product came quickly and the condition of the book was better than what I expected; as the price was significantly lower than the price of the book's new price. No markings; torn pages; dog-eared pages or highlighter marks. As I have stated; the product arrived quickly and was in good condition. I would buy from this company again in the future!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Fun readingBy LarryThe reading is fun. Each section makes enough interesting points to keep the variety of the subject. Worthwhile and fun!
