ebooks Pioneers of Islamic Scholarship by Adil Salahi in History

Description

Following the remarkable resurgence of Islamic political activism in recent decades; radical Islamic movements now have a presence in almost every Muslim country and form the major opposition forces to the established regimes in the Middle East. This important book deepens our understanding of the influence of contemporary Islam by providing a definitive history of the meteoric rise of the mother organization of all modern Islamic movements-the Society of the Muslim Brothers. Founded in 1928 by a young primary schoolteacher; Hasan al-Banna; the Society rose to become the largest mass movement in modern Egyptian history in less than two decades; clashing with the ruling elite on a wide range of issues. Drawing on a wealth of sources which include material by the Society's veterans and dissidents; the Society's internal publications from the 1930s and early 1940s; a collection of Hasan al-Banna's letters to his father; and security files from the Egyptian National Archives; the author examines the socio-economic and cultural factors which facilitated the movement's expansion and analyzes the keys to its success.

This is a very good book put together by Adil Salahi; that presents the scholars of the past to whom different groups today attribute themselves and their movements to. Check it out. Learn about Imam Abu Hanifah; Imam Zayd ibn Ali the son of Imam Zaynal Abideen; Imam Malik; Imam Jafar As Sadiq; Imam Abdullah ibn Ibadh; Imam Jabir ibn Zayd; Imam Shafi; Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal; Imam Ali ibn Hazm; Imam Izz Ad-Deen ibn Abdus Salam; and Imam Ibn Taymiyyah. They had some differences; but in my opinion they were all Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'a. Those sects today who have deviated from Qur'an Sunnah in basic Aqeedah; can rectify themselves by following the paths that their predecessors were truly upon. For example; Imam Abu Hanifah; Imam Muhammad Baqir; Imam Zayd ibn Ali and Imam Malik were contemporaries to one another. They respected each other. Abu Hanifah supported Imam Zaydi ibn Ali financially in his rebellion against Umayyad rule. Zayd ibn Ali is the Imam whom the Zaydi shiah follow. They follow him closely; and that is why the Zaydi Shiah are closer to Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'a. Imam Jafar Sadiq was one of the scholars of Madina along with Imam Malik. The Ithna Ash'ari Shiah; in my opinion are not following the Aqeedah of Imam Jafar As Sadiq. Read this book with an open mind. We need more scholarly works like this one with even more details to clear up the misconceptions between Shia; Sunni; Ibaadhi; Zaydi; and Salafi.
