ePub Power and the Holy in the Age of the Investiture Conflict: A Brief History with Documents (Bedford Series in History Culture (Paperback)) by Maureen C. Miller in History

Description

This volume reveals how the Seven Years’ War reshaped the geopolitical map of North America and the everyday lives of the peoples within it. The introduction surveys the war as both an international struggle for empire and an intercultural conflict involving Native Americans; French and British soldiers; and the ethnically and religiously diverse population of British North America. A rich collection of primary-source selections recaptures the experience of the war from multiple perspectives and is organized by key cultural; military; and diplomatic themes. Document headnotes; a chronology; questions to consider; and a bibliography enrich students’ understanding of this momentous conflict.

Wonder collection of documentsBy David MoralesThe type of literature surrounding the investiture contest has a tendency to be a but dull and longwinded. This book breaks that tradition with a style that had people in my class thinking they new all about the conflict by just reading the introduction...it's that engaging.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. great primary sourcesBy CustomerThis little book is a great collection of various primary sources that concern the Investiture Conflict/Controversy/Whateveryouwannacallit. As someone with a great interest in Medieval German history; I found reading the words of the people actually involved in the events to be very interesting.
