Lost but Not ForgottenBy JimIt is a powerful book which describes the horrendous conditions that these submariners faced and endured during their years as POWs under Imperial Japanese control. Few submarine sailors survive when their vessel is destroyed and the author gives a personal profile on each of the men survived in these terrible camps. The book provides an insight into a unique experience of the WWII submarine sailors who were captured and who lived to tell their stories even when loved ones thought they had died with their sunken submarine. .0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The unlost US submarine POWs of WWIIBy ElisabethPresumed Lost is a compilation of interviews and other documentation of the Prisoners of War captured from US naval submarines during WWII by the Japanese. This is a very moving account given by these survivors; and in some cases; by their families and crew mates. War is ugly; and the treatment of these men was ugly. If someone glorifies war; he should be required to read what can happen when your enemy has your life in his hands. I hope these stories do not die with these men; it is important that our children understand the cost of war; as well as the power of courage and a person's will to live.
