Racial Domination; Racial Progress: The Sociology of Race in America

audiobook Racial Domination; Racial Progress: The Sociology of Race in America by Matthew Desmond; Mustafa Emirbayer Associate Professor in History

Description

We don’t experience our everyday lives through just one lens; rather; we experience all elements of our identity―race; class; gender; sexuality―simultaneously. Identities and Inequalities acknowledges this complex reality and brings to light the importance of studying the intersections of race; class; gender; and sexuality. It also examines these intersections as both elements of personal identity and sources of social inequality. Newman has written a unique; engaging; and highly accessible book that will prepare students to study these all-important issues in a whole new way.Instructors and students can now access their course content through the Connect digital learning platform by purchasing either standalone Connect access or a bundle of print and Connect access. The history of how modern day racism at the institutional and interpersonal level was very in-depth. There were a lot of helpful statistics that empirically shows racial disparities in today's society. I highly recommend this book; it also reminded me of another interesting book; "Lies My Teacher Told Me."0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. not bad!By Jade HawkinsOrdered for class; not bad!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I can tell you I really enjoyed this oneBy CustomerAs a person who never reads textbooks; I can tell you I really enjoyed this one.Really great connection of history to the present state of society.Stated in terms and conceptually to be understood by common people; which is always a problem in higher ed.
