I have a hard cover; not a paperbackBy Dr. Rudolph JacobsonBeing instrumental in the development of this book (see page 8); as well as one of the Survivors of this ill fated Voyage of the S.S. St. Louis; now commonly referred to as "The Voyage of the Damned;" (coined after the title of the original book written by Thomas and Witts in 1974); I was very much interested in this sequel which accounted for all 936 of those Jewish Refugees even though this labor of love took almost 10 years. It is interesting and so well written that the reader constantly builds up their anticipation for the upcoming story from the present one. Each Survivor's story is different; very well documented; so the reader never gets bored. Hats off to Scott Miller and Sara Ogilvie for a great work to help preserve a moment during man's inhumanity/indifference to man. The Nazis were right when they said; "If the Rest of the World doesn't care about the 900 Jews on the St. Louis; do you think they Will Care What We Do with the Rest of Europe's Jews?" It is well documented and the authors looked far and wide for each survivor;I am not sure about Roosevelt's intentions.There were some excuses for why we turned these innocent human beings to their death.There should have been some humanitarian exceptions for a group of people who would have contributed greatly to American society. .This book should be required reading for all students.
