This new title in the Art of Wisdom series is a luxuriously illustrated edition of the ultimate Japanese warrior classic. Written by the legendary swordsman Musashi Miyamoto; The Five Rings (c.1645) is more than just a manual on sword-fighting techniques: its Zen philosophy offers tactics and strategies as relevant to personal success today as they were to 17th-century samurai. The Five Rings speaks to every age about the essential roles of harmony and self-mastery in our lives.

Craig ColemanWhat an excellent book depicting the life of NC’s General Gatlin; amid the harshness of life in that age. Through all the names; travels; and personal loses; Gatlin's tough character developed showing what a remarkable man he was even for his time. Though he was reserved to survive; I got a deep empathy for his personal struggles and quiet victories. This is a great read for Civil War buffs and for those wanting to see real life in the nineteenth century!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. It also details how hard life in general was in that time frame for both man and families.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I enjoyed it very muchBy David GracieVery well written. I enjoyed it very much. James Gaddis did a very thorough job documenting the life of Richard Gatlin. He was family member of my wife Martha-Gatlin Phillips Gracie.
