7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. it's 5:13 amBy Mikey TerrellMy heart has been for multi-cultural worship now for the past 7 years. I am studying it in school. I figured this book wouldn't teach me anything I didn't already know being a C-2. I was wrong. Bryan Loritts does a great job of defining all his terms and giving great wisdom on how we can find; utilize; and become leaders in culturally diverse settings no matter the background. He does this in a easy to read page turner. I loved the characters and was surprised at the end. It's 5:13 am; I have class at 9; but I couldn't put it down.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Surprisingly Good!By BSurprisingly Good! I listen to Pastor Loritts messages all the time(via YouTube and the ALCF app). I didn't realize he was such a gifted writer and story teller. The book is a unique look at race and Christianity. I enjoyed the narrowed scope of the story. Often authors attempt to please everyone when discussing the faith-race issue and it comes across sporadic. By telling a simple story with realistic and relatable characters; Pastor Loritts is able to deliver a coherent message while giving current and future leaders usable tools. Great read; highly recommended.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Narratival SmugglingBy SwaleGood story (for having been written by a pastor who; as far as I can tell; has only written non-fiction); but it brilliantly kneads in important theological and sociological realities. As the fictional search committee takes a journey of cross-cultural worldview shifting; the reader is brought along as well. My only critique is that the subtitle may be too narrow - all believers who would like to relate more meaningfully across cultures would benefit from this smooth; enjoyable read (I; a very slow reader; read it in two days). The author's real life; proven leadership in multiethnic church planting adds gravitas to the book. He is not; like many young leaders; pontificating while he experiments - he is doing and has done these things well (in an address he gave at a conference; I heard him recount a personal story which seems to be exactly the conversation the sweet old lady had with Pastor Peter in the first section). As a professor once told me (and thus freed my conscience); not every book is worth reading cover to cover...but this one IS.
