Run; My Child

audiobook Run; My Child by Sam and Rachel Boymel in History

Description

On December 25; 1941; the day of Hong Kong's surrender to the Japanese; Admiral Chan Chak; the Chinese government's chief agent in Hong Kong; and more than sixty Chinese; British and Danish intelligence; naval and marine personnel made a dramatic escape from the invading army. This gripping account of the escape draws on a wealth of primary sources in both English and Chinese and sheds new light on the role played by the Chinese in the defence of Hong Kong; on the diplomacy behind the escape; and on the guerillas who carried the Admiral in a sedan chair as they led his party over the rivers and mountains of enemy-occupied China.

RohmAs a Cincinnatian and having the privilege of working in the healthcare business field; the Boymel family to me is the "First Family" of Greater Cincy Senior Living. The story of Rachel Sam Boymel has always intrigued me.This book takes you on a raw remarkable journey of both historical personal insights: humble beginnings as Jewish kids in Poland "Ghettos" during the Russian/German invasion; courageously enduring family tragedy to not just survive but run to freedom not knowing 2 paths would sovereignly collide and turn into an unconditional love story; and how the "American" dream wasn't anything of the sort the first few years when they arrived in Cincy as young refugees parents.More than becoming what this world says is successful; to me its a wonderful example of what God writes into all of our DNA: the need to be loved; the cry to be heard; the beauty sacrifice of family; the discipline of gratitude; the hope for a better tomorrow. FANTASTIC!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great Story - Could not put it downBy Grand KathrynExcellent story - riveting; compelling and touching. Wonderful story with a great ending.By Kimberly SullivanExcellent story of their struggles and the power to overcome them. They defeated all the situations that stood in their way. Knowing their Grandson; Chase Kohn very well he has the same drive. Chase gave me the book to read. I read it in one night. The book was so interesting I could not stop reading.
