A Gem from TagoreBy BjornstamTagore draws on the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita; the Upanishads; Buddhism and even Christianity to express the core idea that human beings are inseparable from God. The fact that Tagore was a poet as well as a spiritual thinker allows him to express his ideas in language that is eloquent and forceful. This book is an important and useful companion to the Bhagavad Gita. If you have read the Bhagavad Gita and felt that it was an expression of truth; you will likely enjoy and benefit from reading this book.3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Great insights into Indian philosophyBy ZMIndia's current economic boom has made me curious about its culture and philosophy. Reading Tagore's Sadhana: The Realisation of Life; was nothing but enlightening. This is a stimulating compilation of lectures; thought-provoking and easily accessible due to Tagore's easy; engaging style. Familiarising myself with his Truths was an eye opener. I have to agree with him on the point that man's possessions are his limitations--I think the most effective "truth" of the book which summarises in a nutshell what "Realisation of Life" in the title of the book; means to most people. What made it difficult to get through this was the fact that the electronic text was interspersed with numerous footnotes within the text itself which was a huge distraction.
