Beautiful Book with a beautiful intentionBy DRThe photography and design of this book alone make it a very valuable addition to the collection of any Art and Culture lover. The insight into the ancient wisdom of Shaolin Chan (Zen) at the birthplace of all Martial Arts; the 1;500 year old Shaolin Temple in China; make it a little treasure for anyone with an interest in the origin of traditional martial arts and Chinese culture. Introduction and text were written by the Shaolin Abbot Shi Yongxin himself. The English translation was done by the Shaolin Temple; leading to somewhat amusing text passages. However; this only lends authenticity to the book and makes it even more unique indeed. For all those with a preference for more clarity and perfect grammar; the German or Italian translations will appeal to you more (if you happen to speak those languages). Photography however speaks a Universal language; and the photography in this book is amazing. The most beautiful part about this beautiful book is that it is for a Good Cause. The proceeds of this book will go to the Shaolin Orphanage which is in dire need of repair/rebuild and relies entirely on donations. I am certainly getting additional copies as a perfect gift for friends and family; and with the good feeling that I am doing something to help improve the living conditions for the orphaned kids from Shaolin.
