The study clearly shows how opportunity hoarding impacts minorities; AND... those attempting to enter organizations without growing up in the right social networks. For a student of the social sciences this is a must have book. If you ever needed information about "those that have" and their sociological imagination with respect to "those that have not;" this book is worth your time to read.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. American Tribalism and Modern RacismBy Elton LevingstonThis insightful book brings to light the tribalism at play in American society. DiTomaso explains; through her survey data; how our actions to preserve our family ties/bloodlines and inner network groups affects and effects racial discrimination in society. There is no race baiting here; which is a relief; but the racial tone of the piece is incisive. Whites in America are privilegded because they have greater access to economically viable resources. Minorities are often disatvantaged trailblazers encroaching on tribal lands.
