Halvorsen still flies a plane; still drops candy to school children here in the US and also in Germany. He's amazing. I've attended his lectures; read his book; and listened to him speak in Church. Gail is an active; devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I am privileged to attend the same ward (congregation) as he does. Not only does he spend several weeks each month traveling to schools cross the country and abroad; but he and his wife are also active in the missionary program of the Church. I am truly honored to be among those he calls a friend.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Wow! Wonderful story.By BonA great part of history that I learned as an adult. Great story but the beginning got a little slow because he wrote many technical and specific things about planes and his flights. If you enjoy airplanes; you'll like that part. But the story of how Gail Halvorsen started the candy bombings; being confronted about it; and all the people who supported and helped it become a success is very good. Insightful readBy beckyThis was a wonderful autobiography that gave insight into one of the most thoughtful humanitarian efforts in history. A wonderful read that I would recommend to anyone. A little technical at times which would be exciting for one enthralled with aviation.
