What's wrong with Calvinism? Since the Reformation; Calvinism has dominated much of evangelical thought. It has been so well established that many Christians simply assume it to be the truest expression of Christian doctrine. But Calvinism has some serious biblical and theological weaknesses that unsettle laypeople; pastors and scholars alike. God is sovereign. All evangelical Christians--whether Arminians or Calvinists--have no doubt about this fundamental truth. But how does God express his sovereignty? Is God a master puppeteer; pulling our strings? Or has he graciously given his children freedom to respond to his love? In this eminently readable book; Jerry L. Walls and Joseph R. Dongell explore the flaws of Calvinist theology. Why I Am Not a Calvinist is a must-read for all who struggle with the limitations of this dominant perspective within evangelical theology.

A wonderful look at Old Testament characters and locationsBy PrimePeteA great look at Old Testament stories and the locations where they took place from an expert on the subject. I have had the pleasure of traveling with Julie as our guide on a trip to the holy land and her written take on this subject brought back great memories of her humor and her knowledge of this very interesting subject. Recommend highly as a good - and inspiring read.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great read!By Chuck WThis book will open your eyes to some things I have typically looked over. I read it right before we went to Israel and it helped tremendously at all of these sites. It's broken in to many different stories so it's an easy read.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A great travel bookBy carolyn c sawyerA great travel book; to read from cover to cover; and have handy as you travel through the special places in Israel; especially with Julie Baretz; which I did! What a gift!!! Julie is a wonderful tour leader; so very knowledgeable and informative; whether you are with a Jewish group; Gentile or mixed. Julie has a knack for sharing bits and pieces of biblical history with flare. I'd go again with Julie in a minute; and will most certainly read the book again.
