MillerIt's truly refreshing to see such a non-politically-correct history; leading up to our great nation's founding principles to preserve liberty; as opposed to the guided revisionist "history" we're used to.This is such a great series of books on real history; some of the most significant history and the prelude to how and why our founding documents came to preserve true liberty as laid down; by our divinely guided forefathers; as self-evident truths. In general; Carson has produced a solid series; with the possible exception of the very last book. They are well sourced; coherent and organized. Carson takes the time to debunk politically correct mytho-history at many points. Considering how low the standards have fallen for so-called social studies education; I think this is a worthwhile effort. For example; the standard multi-cultural line about Indians having their land stolen is explained in the context of economics; law and the inevitable outcome when stone age cultures encounter modern civilizations. Far from insulting or demeaning Indians; Carson makes it clear that Indians have been; and continue to be; victims of a paternalistic federal government. Also; his surveys of the labor movement; Great Depression and New Deal are ones that you will not find in any other textbook. Carson's philosophic foundation is; as another reviewer pointed out; firmly based in Protestant Christianity; conservatism and natural law. However; the series is not explicitly apologetic or evangelistic in nature. Rather; the implicit tone and language is clearly Christian. Although this series would be great for homeschools and religious schools; I was first exposed to this series at a state university history course. I highly recommend them for high school or even higher performing junior high level students.
