Book of the Glory of the Black Race is a book written by Al-Jahiz; who was a famous Afro-Iraqi scholar; believed to have been of East African descent and an acclaimed prose writer and author of works of literature; Mu'tazili theology; and politico-religious polemics. Not much is known about Al-Jahiz's early life; but his family was very poor. Born in Basra; c. 781 – December 868 or January 869; he asserted in a book he wrote that he was a member of the Arabian tribe Banu Kinanah. His nephew also reported that Al-Jahiz's grandfather was a black African. This particular work is intended by Al-Jahiz to demonstrate that the original man ( Black African ) is to be honoured for the many outstanding and unique attributes they posses over other races. This writing is significant due to it being a firsthand account and witness testimony of the achievements of the native African.

"The Forgotten Act" is a must read work that must be remembered.By raptorman88Too often our perceptions of historical figures are framed by the passing drive by media and mass marketed pseudo historical documentaries. These programs may be easy to digest; but often stray from reality to bolster whatever agenda the creator is attempting to convey. Sherman's life is a perfect example of a complex; highly textured man who has often gotten a bad wrap through this revisionist history. Reeds book corrects this misconception with style and passion. It is not only very well written; but thought provoking and compelling. His arguments are passionate; but level headed and logical; supported by the facts not the fears. If you are interested in civil war history; "The Forgotten Act" is a must read work that must be remembered.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. The book was easy to readBy CustomerThe Forgotten Act; General Sherman's Special Field Order 15. This was a very interesting book to read. I learned many things I did not know about the Order; and General Sherman. The book was easy to read; and hard to stop reading. Unlike other historical non fiction books I have read. My views on the period; the General; and the Order were definitely changed. I would recommend this book to everyone.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
