LópezSimply a superb work; thoroughly researched; with 500+ pages (the rest devoted to notes; bibliography; index); to give coverage to a mere 3 weeks; the last in the defense of the NEI.Makes you hope that it will become a groundbreaker; so that other non-english writers begin to translate their work. NEI bibliography; to mention but one example; is very deep and thorough; but almost exclusively written in Dutch.10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. About everything I have ever read about WWII history in ...By Mad MaxAbout everything I have ever read about WWII history in the pacific has stated the Japanese quickly captured Java. This book is a detailed account about the defense of Java. The Dutch; British; and Australians simply did not surrender; they fought hard in many instances in the air and on the ground. However; the allies were dealing with limited resources and outdated equipment. If you want to no more about the fall of Java and want to have a more detailed knowledge of this often looked portion of the Pacific war then this book is for you.
