Lowell OfferingBy osfliesI am fascinated by this time period in American history; the rise of the working class; the lack or regulations; the poor working conditions and horrible pay; and most of all the unapologetic greed of the industrialists. I enjoyed this book and learned a lot about the factory women in New England and I thought the primary sources were entertaining. These women were a different breed of working class - educated; uppity moral (by my standards) - and I found that fascinating. I think the book relied on the primary sources of the newsletters a bit too much to tell the true story. I assumed the newsletters were very much censored since they were somewhat endorsed by the employers. But overall it is a solid piece of history we should not forget.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Four StarsBy M. PettengillI enjoyed this glimpse into the past.
