Naming of AmericaBy weeping realistWonderful complement to Toby Lester's Fourth Part of the World. The Line of Demarcation was just a temporary fix. Political pressure won and; had it not been for this single map; America would be called Columbia!This book has the 12 sections of the original map that appeared in as a book; with explanations of 3 dimensional projections (these will be familiar to astronomers).Latin to English translations of the original instructions (only the elite could afford such a book with maps) are very helpful.I cannot wait to see the original displayed at the Library of Congress.
