Shotoku Buddhism is very interesting; and there is good reasoning as to why it is interesting. However that is the only plus to this book; the author repeats himself several times through out the book reiterating the same point over and over. Unless one is completely educated in Buddhism and all the terminology it is also hard to understand at times there is only Japanese words being used. Ultimately it gets the rating that it does because of the fact that although there was a good point; the continuous repetition of it; makes it boring to read. The history of Shotoku is fascinating in itself so perhaps a different book would be better.0 of 3 people found the following review helpful.
