The Puritan Family: Religion and Domestic Relations in Seventeenth-Century New England

DOC The Puritan Family: Religion and Domestic Relations in Seventeenth-Century New England by Edmund S. Morgan in History

Description

Pamela Eisenbaum; an expert on early Christianity; reveals the true nature of the historical Paul in Paul Was Not a Christian. She explores the idea of Paul not as the founder of a new Christian religion; but as a devout Jew who believed Jesus was the Christ who would unite Jews and Gentiles and fulfill God’s universal plan for humanity. Eisenbaum’s work in Paul Was Not a Christian will have a profound impact on the way many Christians approach evangelism and how to better follow Jesus’s—and Paul’s—teachings on how to live faithfully today.

Very good bookBy kmsThis is a very good book if you want to find out about the Puritan Family - about how they lived according to what Scripture says in the family. It has a wonderful introduction that explains much about how the Puritans saw family specifically; but culture and community generally. A very enlightening read.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Somewhat DisappointingBy Wilfred HoltonI am reading some of the classic books on Puritan family life and carnal passions to prepare for my organization's "Boston Charter Day" theme in 2016: "The Passionate Puritans." This book is very thoroughly researched and well written as far as it goes. I was disappointed that it is weak on child rearing and the care of frail elders.
