ShawA remarkably clear and comprehensive survey of the history of Ethics; which adopts a multicultural approach that truly transforms the study of ethics into a global enterprise. I look forward to using this as the secondary text in my Honors course in the Fall.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Very Competent Source But Not What I ExpectedBy Paul of WhidbeyThis is a more comprehensive; and its consequent detail; "trudging" treatment of this question than I was hoping it would be. If you know the history of philosophical and theological ethics; this is mostly a re-hash. It's not a bad history or general analysis at all; just not the more original treatment with less historical period detail than I was looking for.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Well done!By Michael H. MontgomeryA wonderful book covering the history of ethical thought. Recommended for anyone going into graduate school; anyone in the human sciences for which philosophy tends to be covert but present none the less; or the general high end reader.
