Also fascinating to see daily life of a president while in office.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. InsightfulBy Greg M.I'm not much of a nonfiction reader; but this VERY long account of the eight year Reagan presidency from Reagan's own daily diary (albeit edited for the book) was extremely interesting! Having lived through those years; I remembered many of the events written about in Reagan's diary. Also; Reagan's impending Alzheimer's seems to be apparent in a couple of situations. (Of course; 20/20 hindsight is helpful.)I'm sure this book would be more interesting to fans of the Reagan presidency than to the opposition; but nevertheless it is a revealing look into one of the most successful presidencies in my lifetime.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. The Diary of Our Last Great PresidentBy billdaltonWhen you begin to read the diary; you sense Reagan was a little unsure as to what the diary should say or not say; but as he warms up; so does the diary and the humble greatness of man. Whether you agreed with his politics or not; he stands in stark contrast to what we have today; a president who can't accept responsibility; can't make a decision; can't tell the truth. A president who cares only about re-election and would throw the nation under the bus to get re-elected. It is possible this country has seen its last great president and it is possible the sitting president will bring the country to a depth from which it cannot recover. The Reagan Diaries show how a real man can be president and make decisions that take courage.
