Very little is known about the life of Julian of Norwich other than the mystical experiences she relates in her book. Her name probably wasn't "Julian" and she may or may not have been a woman religious. What we know is the wonderful depth of her mystical experiences (many years before she wrote the book) and her love of God and Jesus and the people of God. Julian is not into sin and damnation; but talks about the joy of being a person created by God and the beauty of God's world. While she wrote in the early 15th Century; Julian has a very modern sensibility about religion. The book is the original Middle English version; similar to Chaucer. It's not hard to read Middle English (much of the difference between ME and Modern English is spelling). The book has footnotes and a glossary to help you with words that you may not recognize or have changed their meanings. Not to be missed.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Middle English readsBy Lori BFascinating telling of anchoress spiritual experience as written in Middle English (or as close to that as is possibly readily accessible in mass publication). Insightful look into the focus of what became a life confined in the name of God and her retelling of showings experienced in youth. Great seller experience in order and receipt of book!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. DivineBy New SilkI looked all over for this book; the beautiful expressions of Dame Julian of Norwich in her own Middle English languages. It has it's own kind of music.
