When I visited the Smithsonian the exhibit of the First Ladies' dresses had a wait time of several hours; so I never got in to see it. But the photos in this book are clear and close-up; so it's perhaps better than the exhibit. Plus there are other objects pictured that are not displayed at the museum. The capsule biographies are interesting. I'll never forget my first visit to the Collection when I was 15! I've been looking for a book like this for years that discusses the lives of the First Ladies and provides photographs of the dresses in the Collection. I couldn't wait to receive the book and could hardly put it down when it arrived. On my last trip to Washington about 13 years ago; I was disappointed to find out that the exhibit was being remodeled and didn't get to see it!
