The Twelve Caesars

PDF The Twelve Caesars by Suetonius in History

Description

Viking marauders in their longships burst through the defences of ninth-century Europe; striking terror into the hearts of peasants and rulers alike for two centuries. But the Vikings were more than just marine warriors and this atlas shows their development as traders and craftsmen; explorers; settlers and mercenaries. With over sixty full colour maps; it follows the tracks of the Viking merchants who travelled deep into Russia; of Viking mercenaries who served in the emperor’s bodyguard at Constantinople; and Viking mariners who sailed beyond the edge of the known world to North America.

KiangI started looking for the translation of this book by Robert Graves; but; was directed to this version. I bought it without looking more carefully at the product. The good part was this translation didn't cost much; so; the pain was somewhat tolerable. I did find Robert Graves's translation from .uk.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Excellent PurchaseBy John CoppolaThe book was in new condition; delivered only days after purchase. The book is an amazing historical biography of the first twelve men who ruled the Roman empire; and portrays them honestly; without heroic blinders- their strengths and weaknesses. There is little question that they all lived in a very 'brutal' period in human history; and the politics of the time sure was deadly; both within; and outside; of families. This book would definitely appeal to history buffs; as well as anyone interested in the tiny city-state that became the greatest empire the world has ever known. Great read!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A Great Way to Learn About the Caesars of RomeBy L.J.I wanted to learn more about the Caesars of Rome and this book makes the grade.
