the Hebrew Bible; Mishnah; Talmuds; and the Midrash illustrate Judaism s response to those three social; cultural; and political crises. Faced with these catastrophic events; the rabbinic sages explored anew the paradigms of piety and practice that they had received from previous generations. The result was that they discovered a truth both continuous with the past and responsive to the unanticipated crisis a truth that carved out a path for the future. This process; represented in the Jewish canon; continues to define modern Judaism."

My father is an American Revolution scholar; and this book is not only incredibly well-researched; the subject matter is a welcome take on a part of American history that is under-researched; under-appreciated; and generally ignored. Thank you so much; Jim Piecuch; for your much-needed contribution to the literary world of the "other" side of the war of American independence. Well done!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Beaman Jr.There is so little written about the "other side" in the South during the War For Independence; this book almost instantly becomes a "standard" for the issue. That it includes Native American and African Americans; makes it even more valuable as a source. It is well researched and documented and; for a book like this; quite readable. Highly recommended.
