One of my favorite things is that it tells the story of what happened to her and her remaining family members after they were liberated. The additional struggles they faced could have been soul-crushing; but Ms. Laughlin has an amazing spirit. Both from a human interest perspective and a historical perspective; this is a book I highly recommend.I was lucky enough to see Ms. Laughlin speak at my local library this summer. She told me her story; although at that time she didn't share it with all her students. She taught me strength; courage; and to never give up.
