Histories of the Waterloo campaign and tours of the battlefield generally concentrate on the battle between the armies of Napoleon and Wellington - the role of Blucher's Prussians is left in the background. Peter Hofschöer's fascinating account focuses on the Prussians at the Battle of Waterloo and on their critical but often neglected contribution to the battle. He tells the story of the grueling Prussian advance towards the battlefield and he records the ferocious and decisive fight that broke out when they arrived. At every stage he allows the reader to follow in the footsteps of the Prussian soldiers as they struggled across the Belgian countryside almost 200 years ago.

As a reader who leans towards the towards the "technical"; I was extremely pleased by the technical descriptions and the direct comparisons with the TU-2 and its peers in tabular form. Many readers think of the TU-2 as a light bomber. The book covers its use as both a tactical ground attack aircraft and as an effective aircraft while operating in the interdiction role.As to the book itself? There is coverage of post war use and derivatives; users and early post war Soviet jets; All of which make good reading; There is also an excellent description of the tactical paint schemes buttressed by some excellent color plates for the modelers. Like his other two volumes; Mr. Moore provides an expanded suggested reading list and a review of the models that are available. As another reviewer (Discerner) stated; there is paucity of books covering Russian WWII bombers. This volume goes a long way towards filling that gap in English language books.Highly recommended!3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Like the recent releases of (excellent) 1/48 plastic-scale modelsBy DiscernerLike the recent releases of (excellent) 1/48 plastic-scale models: such a definitive English-language book is most welcome; at last; and worth the wait. (This monograph now caps the argument against its subject's inexcusable-absence from modeler's shows; hopefully this aircraft's "presence" will pick up.) The author seems to have the full measure of the Tu-2's entire technical (and operational) context; underlying its role emerging from both industrial and geographic settings potential to the USSR's situation (and opportunities) arriving into the late 30s. Moreover; the author also gives a synoptic view of other (comparative) medium bombers; while couching the Tu-2 tactical concepts from a wider-extended picture: embracing pre and postwar aeronautical state-of-art possibilities within the USSR (and requirements that inevitably let to its various turbojet "successors" also briefly described and illustrated; here). The Tu-2 presents quite a concise; succinct "medium" bomber package (that finally got Tupolev out of Stalin's doghouse)!BTW: While the "medium" bomber was ubiquitous (and plentifully deployed by all combatants); its forte was that mid "operational" (logistical) space of influence -- betwixt "strategic" and "tactical" -- an "area" (oddly) not yet fully recognized within the typical land doctrinal manuals of the combatants (outside Germany and the USSR). That the "medium" bomber was neither a (direct) "tactical" nor (indirect) "strategic" weapon; this (in-between) "operational" area-of-influence -- only became fully-incorporated into US Army land war doctrines; after the war; however excellently the US "mediums" were magnificently-employed (right under the noses of our best-educated commanders)!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Excellent source of information on the Tu-2By Cliff NeveExcellent source of information on the Tu-2. Aviation artist Roy Grinnell is using the book as an information source for a painting he is doing.
