This major offensive was intended to capture the strategically essential oil fields at Baku and so provide petroleum products for the fuel-starved Wehrmacht. Although initially successful; this offensive culminated in a desperate withdrawal that almost trapped an entire army group—a disaster that would have surpassed even that at Stalingrad. An excellent account of a little known Eastern Front campaign.

I had been collecting the various books By James Bender. I was not able for some reason or the other to get it. When I came across it I was delighted again. I am a Military Historian and Collector of militia; and paint model soldiers .What I look for is uniform books and a few Histories. Some on the spot and others are just plan junk. This one is on the spot and I am delighted with. This Will go into my library of over 800 books on the subject. I still fine great deals and new stuff on line with you Thank You Just one small note. I noticed in your on catalogue some of the price are a bet out of line for the books. A paper back that was betweem $25-$35 on the out side and still is was $250.
