After the disastrous Saxony Campaign; with its lowest point at Leipzig; the French army retreated; withdrawing inside its natural frontiers with the Allied armies hard on its heels. On 29 January 1814; the Battle of Brienne rekindled French hopes which then very quickly evaporated with the defeat at La Rothière on 1 February. Napoleon fell back on Troyes. The Allies decided to march on Paris but made the mistake of doing so in dispersed order. It was more than a blunder; it was a grave mistake. Using the capacity for marching of his young soldiers as well as that of his old “moustachesâ€; Napoleon fell like lightning on the Army of Silesia which he swept aside in five days of battles at Champaubert; Montmirail and Vauchamps. More than just three victories; Napoleon gave France something it had forgotten; confidence.

ReutherI thought that this was an excellent book- well-written; thoughtful; spiritual; and certainly a book that you would want to read. I'm in a study group of 12 and have ordered that many for our group to study. I also ordered it on kindle and could very easily study it on my own. Never have I learned more about the 3 main religions; especially Christianity; and in a well- written and easy to understand book. It's outstanding and I'll learn more after my group has studied it.8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Lessons to Live ByBy Dieter KillingerCarol Perry brings the Bible alive. She tells it in terms we can understand. You can hear the clip clop of the sandals on the cobble stone streets in the Holy Land. Not only is Sr. Carol a great scholar; she is a warm and down to earth human being.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A joy to read and reread! Tap the book image to "Look inside" and decide for yourself.By retired teacherA perfectly crafted; motivating and down-to-earth book that I found difficult to put down. However; that happened whenever I came across a Bible reference and felt compelled to 'check it out right now'. Carol brings the Bible to life and puts its parts into historical and cultural perspective. Her storytelling skills are incomparable as witnessed during her Bible study videos available online at Marble Collegiate Church.'Look inside' Chapter 1 and discover a reason to reflect: "We have been going too fast. We must stay here and wait for our souls to catch up with us" (from a 19th century African story).
