Wellington's Dutch Allies 1815 (Men-at-Arms)

PDF Wellington's Dutch Allies 1815 (Men-at-Arms) by Ronald Pawly in History

Description

A fine piece of research by the late Bill Fevyer and John Wilson team which produced a fascinating history of the politics as well as the naval operations in the Gulf area immediately prior to and after the Great War. The medal rolls are given by ships - no less than 28 involved - and each ship's specifications (type; displacement; dimensions and armament) are given. The selected despatches from the ships engaged and other correspondence are a high point in this excellent document illustrating the type of imperial policing carried out by the Royal Navy and Royal Indian Marine Service.

After reading this book will leave a last impression on you with the fighting ablities that these formation did at holding the French army at bay. Even suffering heavy casualties the battle is will covered.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Wellington's Forgotten AlliesBy JAlong with the Belgian title; this Osprey title is a useful and informative summary of an often-overlooked contingent in the victorious army at Waterloo. As with the Belgian tile; Ducth uniformdetails can be hard to come by; so giving the contingent its own title is very worthwhile.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
