Across the centuries; how have Christians who follow the Prince of Peace responded to the recurring reality of war? And what guidance do they offer for believers today–in the midst of global conflict? In When God Says War Is Right; Dr. Darrell Cole offers thorough and highly readable answers. His expert examination focuses on these topics:·Relating the character of God with the use of force·Determining when and how Christians ought to fight·Understanding why Christian virtues are vital when using force·Using nuclear weapons for deterrence·Learning lessons from World War II; Vietnam; and the 1991 Gulf War·Responding to today’s war against terrorismDr. Cole focuses on Romans 13; where Paul commands us to “do what is right†(or “good†or “nobleâ€) in regard to our governing authorities; who have legitimate war-making authority. In the case of war; what is “right†for the Christian? This book answers that essential question. In today’s war-stricken world; Dr. Cole provides timely; trustworthy; and vitally needed guidance for Christians.

Great BookBy Joseph W ParkerThis is a very well written history on the phase of the Korean War when the UN forces finally managed to stop the Chinese Communist offense that had begun at the Yalu in late 1950 and continuing until 20 February 1951. It presents the war-fighting ability of the allied forces; warts and all; citing archival records; battle reports; interviews of persons; and the experience of the author. Viewpoints of generals and privates alike or included in the narrative. The timeline ends with the action at Sillim-ni; the last fight before the UN forces go into the offensive and finally turning the tide against the Chinese. If the author has a weakness; it is his rather poor use of maps; which are often borrowed from other sources and do not fully assist his narrative. Otherwise; this is an incredible read on the bravery; futility; and horror of war in the dead of winter in a place few people had heard of at the time.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great OverviewBy Andrew L. HouseAn informative work on an important but obscure campaign in an important but obscure war. Great overview of the campaign; learned a lot about Massacre Valley. Greater primer to read before reading more detailed work about battles like Chipyong-ni.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Anin outstanding essay on the battles around WonjuBy Betty WeisingerThis is absoluely outstanding essay of the actions of the 187 Airborne Inf RCT and tje 2nd Div in the decisive battles around Wonju and Chipyong Ni in central Korea in Jan ans Feb 1951. Col Coleman's research was clearly oustanding. His remarks about the command relationships were right on; as were his detailed descriptions of small unit actions. This is an oustanding piece of work
