Brigadier-General Ernest Alexander Cruikshank (1853-1939) was a Canadian author and noted authority on Ontario history. He wrote a number of books on this subject. He was Chairman of the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada. He was a member of the Royal Society of Canada and President of the Ontario Historical Society. His works include: Queenston Heights (1890); A Century of Municipal History; 1792-1892 (1892); The Story of Butler's Rangers and the Settlement of Niagara (1893); The Fight in the Beechwoods: A Study in Canadian History (1895); The Battle of Fort George (1896); Drummond's Winter Campaign; 1813 (1900); The Action at Cook's Mills (1923); A Memoir of Colonel the Honorable James Kerby (1931); The Life of Sir Henry Morgan (1935) and The Political Adventures of John Henry (1936).
