Have you ever wanted to spend time with Stephen Sondheim in the lobby during one of his shows? Did you know that Patti LuPone once had a Broadway ghostly encounter? Have you ever wondered what it was like to be in the landmark Broadway premiere of Angels in America? From opening nights to closing nights. From secret passageways to ghostly encounters. From Broadway debuts to landmark productions. Score a front row seat to read hundreds of stories about the most important stages in the world; seen through the eyes of the producers; actors; stagehands; writers; musicians; company managers; dressers; designers; directors; ushers; and door men and women who bring The Great White Way to life each night. You'll never look at Broadway the same way again. This is the third book in the multi-volume series that tells the stories of all of the Broadway theaters. This volume includes the Broadhurst; the Belasco; the Edison; the Lyric; the Majestic; the Schoenfeld; the St. James and the Walter Kerr: eight Broadway theaters that light up New York City.

Needed an editor to take care of missed words and other errors. . . BUT what a read. Here was a guy that from 17 to 47 was hitting all the high spots. A few low spots in regard to personal married life; but he was in the right place at the right time and found a lifetime of adventure without paying a death penalty while doing it. I'm going to buy some copies to send to old naval pilots who would revel in this saga. Was going to give it four stars; but then the fifth star said "I love it;" and that nailed it for me. I loved reading it.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. What amazing accounts of adventure and heroism concerning the world's actual most interesting man.By Diego Robles"The balance of this little excursion will provide memories I will never forget. For exactly 3hrs; 30 minutes; Rudder and I sweated out imaginary forced landing on that blue water infested with a thousand icebergs."This was an incredibly interesting book and an extremely fast read. CMDR Avedon has lived more life in 90 plus years than 100 men in a thousand lifetimes. This book was recommended by a friend of mine and my qualms about it is that it didn't cover Alvedon't whole life and his endless adventures. Nonetheless; I throughly enjoyed and cannot recommend it more.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great storyteller.By J. PetermanI've known Burt for over 30 years; and once again he has defined the odds ( writing a memoir at 93+ years.) and produced a really great account of his adventures in WWII; Korea and the Explorers Club. His book is a page turner of factual adventure. It's the best insider account of WWII in the Pacific that I've read; right up there with Eugene Sledge's "With The Old Breed".
